The ZL is used particularly frequently in public buildings with panic doors to separate different areas or departments or to prevent unauthorised exit. Contactless opening via proximity locking media such as card or chip is possible and a logging variant exists for more traceability.

The electronics and mechanism are housed in the inner rosette for maximum stability and security.
