Swiss woman on a mission

Ariane Lüthi - her name is inseparably linked with the South African Cape Epic. The Swiss, who has lived in Stellenbosch for many years, has won what is probably the toughest MTB stage race in the world five times. In 2016, she finished fourth at the World Marathon Championships and twice won the title of Swiss Champion in the MTB Marathon (2018, 2019). But the sports scientist also has a vulnerable side: She confessed that she had suffered from depression for two years. Ariane Lüthi wants to encourage women to pursue their goals – without fighting against their own bodies and souls. "I had to learn the joy of biking again," she says. Ariane Lüthi has been competing for the Kross Racing Team since 2019. In the same year, she finished third in the Cape Epic with her team-mate Maja Wloszczowska.
